Owner Operated Pest Control in MA
“Controlling Mice may seem a simple task…until your home is invaded by a litter of a dozen wily mice and those old fashioned (finger snapping) traps just don’t seem to catch your crafty, “fecal-spreading” house companions. Those electronic repellents simply aren’t working, and your friends enjoy bowling with acorns at late hours of the night.”
So you go to the Home Improvement store (hopefully local), look for the aisle with “dangerous chemicals” and load your cart with an arsenal of lethal poisons (oddly with names not unlike those reminiscent of childhood cartoons, minus the “Jerry” of course) and return with a vengeance. Now…how to implement this rodent warfare?
Most of the rodenticides available to consumers contain multi-feed poisons; simply meaning a mouse must eat a heaping amount on several occasions in order to obtain a lethal dosage. That is…if only the mouse would eat it in the first place! While mice aren’t the pickiest of eaters, your hunk of poison-infused wax may not be very enticing. And that packaging probably isn’t very pet safe so- watch where you put that tray of pellets before Fido snacks on them. Vet bills aren’t as cheap as the money you just saved by not calling an exterminator.(We employ Tamper Resistant, locking Stations made in the U.S.A. strategically placed to avoid access by pets and or children.)
Exhausted, you recline in your chair and wipe your brow, feeling somewhat defeated by these pesky, salmonella spreading critters. What can be done in the name of justice to rid your domicile of these unwelcome inhabitants? Call a professional. They have access to more effective (and environmentally conscious) products that the general public can’t purchase and they have to follow strict E.P.A. Guidelines when treating your home. (For example, OWNER OPERATED PEST CONTROL uses a new Exterior Bait that minimizes the potential of secondary poisoning to birds and other non-target predators.) Most importantly, they have experience in mouse habits and finding the most effective solutions to provide faster, lasting results (including “Excluder Fabric” to keep pests out for good!). Stop smudging that peanut butter on that snap trap and hire a local pest control professional that provides a written warranty. You’ll be grateful that you did.

You may have noticed all of recent headlines regarding the Zika Virus, Lyme Disease, EEE and countless other mosquito and tick borne illnesses. You’ve burned all of your citronella candles and might feel helpless against these blood sucking insects. Is there any effective way to control Mosquitoes and Ticks? The answer is yes. Actually, there are a few ways that, when combined, can prove highly effective in minimizing the risk of ticks and mosquitoes in your yard.
Is your backyard a breeding ground? Mosquitoes and Ticks prefer wooded, shaded areas of the yard to avoid dehydration. Mosquitoes require these moist habitats to breed, and they don’t need a pond or lake. An old watering can, stagnant bird baths and clogged gutters (as well as old tires, etc.) are all suitable breeding grounds. The first step in controlling Mosquitoes is to address these issues, or other control measures will fail.
Ticks have fewer moisture requirements but prefer tall grass/thick shrubbery, stone walls, un-raked leaf litter and brush piles. Keeping grass mowed will make your yard less inviting to ticks. Controlling rodent populations is also an important factor to consider as mice provide a necessary meal for developing ticks.
Finally, shrubs, shaded areas, and the perimeter of the yard can be treated using a combination of an Adulticide and a Growth Regulator to address all stages of tick development. A Blower-Mister is the most efficient means of treating these sites as it can penetrate dense foliage and provide consistent coverage. A granular application to your lawn will not yield the same results.
The final aspect of avoiding Tick and Mosquito Borne illnesses is AWARENESS. Use caution when traversing into thick woods or tall grass. Check your pants carefully after working outdoors. Apply a repellent to discourage mosquitoes, or better yet- cover up in long sleeves, pants and a hat.
